Olallieberry
jam
Some people never guess how much I love country music. Those
red cowboy boots in the corner or the stack of Dolly Parton CDs by
the stereo never seem to give
it away. Country music stations are my absolute favorite. When you haven’t
passed another car for miles and desperately start fiddling with the radio, when
Lyle Lovett comes on, it’s like having a new friend in the passenger seat—at
least for the next 30 miles. Olallieberries, too. Olallieberries grow in the
parts of California only country stations go. Once wild , but now cultivated,
an olallieberry is a little bit longer than the average blackberry, with that
much more flavor. It’s my absolute favorite. Well, second to Mary Chapin
Carpenter.
